Christmas in Review

Nope! As a matter of fact, Rockford reached a high of 44 degrees that rocketed our city into the record books for the 8th warmest Christmas in history. Either way, it was a great day!

Festivities began Christmas Eve with a gathering at G & G's. Traditional pork roast, potatoes, scalloped corn, lefse, lutefisk (yuck) :) Great memories with family!

Christmas morning was wonderful. Made breakfast for my dad and visited. J and I had already gifted each other (Nooks). Sammy received a new blanket to lay on...Long story short, he has taken over every blanket in this house. The softer the better. Jason and I joke that he likes them because they are soft and probably remind him of his mother. So, he has one blanket that is now referred to as his "mother"..We can say "go lay on your mother" and he goes to lay on his blanket. This Christmas, Sammy received his 2nd "mother". He promptly dragged it out of the bag (yes, I wrapped it) and sniffed, licked, rubbed on and immediately layed down.  :) It was so cute that it brought him such happiness.

The rest of the day was calm and restful. We watched the start of the NBA season, and I finished a book.

Today (the 26th) was the most productive day I've had all winter break. We did a much needed deep clean of the house. I then got a 2nd wind and began to organize our closet and do laundry. It felt so good, but now I'm pooped!!

Stay tuned for updates throughout the week. I'll be sharing my Word for 2012! Can't wait!!!!

Breathe

Well, Christmas Break is FINALLY here. I haven't really been waiting for it until these last 3 days. It was a very rough (and long) week at work. Here's a quick run down as to why I am now smiling...and sighing a huge sigh of relief.
  • Cleaning of the classroom
  • Dealing with work situation that really just put me in a bad emotional place
  • Planning ahead for after break so as to not bring home more than 1 school bag over break
  • Last minute paperwork
  • Christmas Program rehersal
  • Christmas Program at school
  • Creating and completing huge bulletin board project at school (6 hours total)
  • Aches and pain from doing the above (it's a huge display case that I had the pleasure of crawling in)
  • Handling crowd control after one of my sweetlings threw up all over the hallway in between lunch hours
  • Managing (and I do mean managing) 21 lovelies as they screamed with excitement from 8-2 on Friday.
I think I hear the angels singing...I MADE IT!!!

One More Week!!

I think I can, I think I can.

That's what I keep telling myself. If I can make it through 5 more days, I will be enjoying a Christmas break much deserved (at least in my eyes - LOL). I've slowly been cleaning my classroom so that I can come back in January to a fresh start.

I am feeling the true JOY and BLESSINGS of the Christmas season. I am so blessed to have a wonderful husband and sweet dog. My dad has been my support through thick and thin. I have a job that I love. We have a house that we call a home. The list could go on and on.

I reflect on my blessings and give thanks to my God above. Thank you, Lord!

Right Now

I've seen this on several other blogs and thought I'd play along...

Right now....

WATCHING...Extreme Makeover Home Edition. I know it's probably past it's prime, but who doesn't love a good heartwarming story on a Friday evening

EATING...Nothing. But I did eat the last corner of the brownies a little while ago

DRINKING...Milk. I LOVE a glass of cold milk. May need to get another glass :)

WEARING...my fave KN jammies. How else would I spend a Friday night?

AVOIDING...getting up and going to the bathroom because standing up will send my foot into a major pain spasm.

FEELING...calm after a stressful few days.

MISSING...loved one's no longer here on Earth.

THANKFUL...one more week and then winter break!!! I need to recharge and rest up!

WEATHER...upper teens with a bit of wind. No significant snowfall yet.

PRAYING...for a dear friend

NEEDING...to get my brows waxed

THINKING...that this snoring dog next to me needs to stop dreaming ASAP...He is running in his sleep and twitching.

LOVING...my reality TV (is that any surprise?) and organizing my new calendar for the New Year (thanks, Babe)

CAN'T WAIT...for house guests to arrive in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to see my CAJ and Jamie!!

Take the challenge...How are you RIGHT NOW?

Pain in the FOOT

I'm starting to get to the end of my rope. I've been dealing with Plantar Faciatus (or however it's spelled) since mid-summer. I already had orthodics. I went back to my Podiatrist, and she signed me up for six laser treatments to break up the inflammation. Mind you, when she pointed this out, I thought that was what feet were supposed to look like. Nope, all of those little bumps were really inflammation. Oh, and not only were both feet full of inflammation, both facia ligaments had multiple micro tears. So, the lasers helped a bit (mostly with the left foot).

The right foot continues to be ever so painful. I can't get up without pain shooting through my foot. I have tried EVERYTHING. Next step is cortisone shot (trying to avoid)...

Anyone else dealing with this? I'm sort of over it. I think 5 months is enough.

OK, rant over!!

It's a Dog's World

So, just in case you haven't heard (I'd be amazed), I am momma to the best puppy boy in the world. He is the sweetest little guy.

I remember the day we went and got him. He came running up and stood at my feet. It was cold outside, so he rode in the backseat with me (wrapped in a blanket from Auntie Martha).

Truly, the dog is highly loved (read SPOILED). It didn't happen intentionally, it has just turned in to Sam's world, and he knows it. :)

I can't imagine our little family without Sammy. He drives us crazy, is so not smart it's not funny, and makes us smile when we have a bad day.

We love you, Sammy D.

"Her Waiting"

I love my job, I really do. My kids crack my up every day. Even when I want to get frustrated, I can't. We work very hard throughout the day. There truly is NO down time. We even have a bathroom in our room, so we don't even get the "luxury" of bathroom breaks.

Today, as I waited for my kids to settle down on the rug so we could continue learning...I hear this little whisper..."her waiting" "her waiting" "her waiting" "her waiting!!!" By now I was just laughing to myself...this little whisper turned booming (okay, screeching) voice was just adding to the ruckus. That's when I hear another voice....don't say "her waiting", Mrs. Davis doesn't like that. You better say "She waiting". (okay, they have listened to some things I've said)

And then the whisper returns..."She waiting"..."She waiting" "She waiting" "People, you're gettin' on my nerves....BE QUIET!!!!!"

This is the story of my life.  I love it...wouldn't have it any other way.

Whelp...

It's Sunday, and I have nothing to show for this weekend. Saturday was a few errands and lunch with my dad. Somehow I stayed up until midnight (I don't think I've done that for over a year) :-)

I slept in today. I guess I needed it. I didn't make it to church, but I had my quiet time with the Lord. It was a stay in your jammies type of day. We had some soup (out of a bag...Bear Creek (yummy) and french bread. Oh, did I mention the brownies I made?

Lesson plans are finished and football is watched. Now it's time to be calm and get ready for sleep :)

Just a girl and her DVR...

I love my DVR. Always something to watch, whenever I want to watch. The BEST part of DVR? When I fall asleep while watching, I can just rewind to where I was and start watching all over again! :)

Just a relaxing Friday night. Not much going on...I'm thinking that 10 school days until break sounds excellent right about now.

December Already?

Where did Fall go? It feels like I just started a new school year. Nope, the end of the year is near. But, wait, I've got so much to do before the end of the year. Jason's birthday, Christmas, my anniversary, visits from Aunt Joan and Jamie (I can't wait!!!!) New Year's Eve....Wow. I am so blessed. Can't wait for a jam-packed month!
